Thich Nhat Hanh’s Tea Meditation with Oprah

As part of her “Super Soul Sunday” series, The Oprah Winfrey Network aired Oprah’s interview with noted Zen teacher, writer and activist Thich Nhat Hanh on Sunday, May 6. On the show, he led Oprah through a tea meditation, explaining how simply sipping tea can be an exercise in mindfulness.

“So when you pick up your tea, you might want to breathe in, in order to bring your mind back to your body and become completely, fully present in the here and the now. I don’t think of the past anymore. I don’t think of the future anymore. I’m free from the past, from the future, and there is a real encounter between me and the tea. And peace, happiness and joy is possible during the time I drink my tea.”
